Protestants are Christians who recognize themselves in the creeds of primitive Church (1st – 5th century AD) and the six statements formulated at the time of the Reformation. God only: nothing but God is sacred or absolute. Protestants question the absolute nature of any human work. In the name of a God of liberty and they proclaim liberty of conscience for all beings. Grace only: Grace is God’s free and original love to humanity. Regardless of his merits Man is already saved. This trust from God makes him responsible. Thus loved, Man is able to love his neighbour.
- Faith only: Faith comes from the meeting between Man and God. It can be the end –or also the beginning – of a difficult, but always open way.
- The Bible only: The Bible is the only authoritarian book. Protestants see in the Bible the book of a Jewish and Christian humanity that means to be related to God. The understanding of its message comes today from the effort of all churches in accordance with their diversity.
- Ever-reforming churches: churches gather all those who recognize themselves in Jesus Christ’s God, namely through baptism and Lord’s Supper. As institutions churches do not mediate between the faithful and God. As human communities churches constantly evolve to the beat of humanity.
- Universal calling: every baptized person has the same place in church, whether layman/laywoman or pastor. The pastor isn’t a special person, but someone, thanks to their theological training, that can lead the community. Witnessing and committing to the world of the duty of all Protestants members of churches.
